Visionary Goals

Clinical Journeys and Aspirations

Our specialists discuss what motivates them to serve individuals with disabilities and their aspirations for expanding care nationwide.

I am currently working at the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC), Sanga, where I am involved in providing rehabilitation care for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities.

I was first introduced to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation during my internship at Wuhan University. Before that, I was not familiar with this specialty. After visiting the department, I became immediately interested in the field and recognized how greatly PM&R is needed in Nepal. The opportunity to serve a population with significant unmet rehabilitation needs motivated me to choose PM&R as my career.

PM&R in Nepal is still in its early stages, with only a small number of practicing physiatrists. With the recent initiation of fellowship programs and plans for residency training, I see strong potential for growth. As rehabilitation needs continue to rise, PM&R will play a key role in expanding services and improving functional outcomes for people with disabilities

I am particularly interested in neurorehabilitation and rehabilitation interventions, which remain limited in Nepal. In the future, I hope to contribute to the development and expansion of these services so that more patients can access specialized rehabilitation care.
